A iDevice Hacker iH8sn0w Finds A Loophole To Downgrade To 5.0.1 From 5.1 on iPad and iPhone 4S

A well known hacker in the jailbreaking community has found a loophole in Apple's files to downgrade from 5.1 to 5.0.1 on the iPad and iPhone 4S. Basically, A5X devices. To downgrade, you would have saved the SHSH blobs on  for the 5.0.1 firmware, if you didn't saved the SHSH blobs and iH8sn0w released a tutorial, or program, to downgrade then you won't be able to downgrade back to 5.0.1. Here is what he has tweeted:
This is great news also! Since the new firmware, it's really hard to downgrade A5 devices. Let's hope he releases the program to downgrade our A5 devices!  We will post more if we hear from iH8sn0w again. Check back later on.

Cydia Dev Team Working on iPad 3 Jailbreak As We Speak!

The Cydia Dev theme announced that they will be working on the jailbreak for the iPad 3. They also posted it on their blog. The post said as following:
"Despite the awkward name Apple announced last week for the new iPad (we’ll continue to call it iPad3!), by all signs it’s going to be another big hit. We suspect many of you are lined up at this very minute, and so it’s a good time to give you some info for maximizing your chance to eventually jailbreak the iPad3.

There are a few bits of good news already.

We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad2 4 months ago (before corona) still works even in 5.1. That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad3. That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story.
Those of you following @i0n1c may have noticed he’s already tweeted pictures of his iPad2 jailbroken at 5.1. As far as we know, he’s using a method completely unrelated to the one mentioned above. That would be great news!
We’ve also seen bits and pieces of an entirely different jailbreak method being investigated by someone close to the Cydia repo scene: @phoenixdev
That’s three different angles, and we’re not even including the continuous work @pod2g makes towards a new jailbreak! As always, keep in mind this is very preliminary progress, and it’s impossible to predict how or when these things turn out. The only thing you need to remember is the golden rule:

Don’t update your new iPad3 past whatever iOS it comes shipped with

By the way, it’s rare but entirely possible that some of you may find your iPad3 comes with an iOS version that’s not quite 5.1. If you do, be sure to let us know in the comments below!

Update #1: It turns out that all three of the jailbreak methods mentioned above have had great success today! We’re off to a good start (but remember there’s still lots of work to do)!"
For all of you iPad fans, who just bought the iPad 3. The jailbreak will be coming soon!

Interview with Greensnow (Cydia Tweak Dev.)

Today, we got to contact a Cydia Tweak Dev.! This Cydia Tweak Dev. made tweaks like SliderPro, Customize Facebook, iReminder and more! We asked if we could interview him and said it was okay. Here are the questions we asked and the answers he answered:

1. What year did you start to make Cydia tweaks?
   *2009 I'm pretty sure.

2. What can we expect next in Cydia?
*Well I've been working on and off on a system wide tweak, it hasn't got a name, yet, but to bring some cool new features that will tweak the iDevices in sorts of ways that haven't been though or made yet. Plus the other little ones that have. But all in the one tweak. I'm also working on some other new tweak on the side too.

3. What made you want to become a Cydia tweak dev.?
*Well mostly I love making tweaks. I have always liked modifying things and trying to make things easier to use and have more function/customizable to it. So for me I've been learning programming for a while now and I just like how the iPhone or iDevices operate and just overall like the satisfaction of being able to give users the ability to have their iDevices as they want it to be. :)!

4. Do you think the jailbreaking is getting harder when Apple gets an firmware update?
*Yes. Deffently, with every patch Apple does to the end comes closer and closer, until Apple makes a mistake somewhere, the exploits will get harder to find. With that being said I believe one day JailBreaking will become very popular in this world one day (e.g the news and stuff like that here in Australi) as technology grows. :)

5. Do you think jailbreaking invades Apple's terms?
*Yes, it invades Apples terms, but I believe that we spend a lot of moneyto have these iDevices, I believe that Apple is conserned about users privacy. Though I believe of Apple really wants to have their iDevices secure and not have it revesed engineerd all the time to hack iDevices to run un-official code. Then they should include it stock with a installer witch the user has the choice to run un-official code on their devices. With that being said I believe at the end of the day, it's us that has brought the product and invested in it. That we should be able to customize/Modifiy it how we would like it to be. :)

6. When was your first jailbreaking experience?
*Um honestly cant rember exactly the first time I jailbroke.

7. How did it feel to finally have a working tweak?
*It felt good. I was very firmualr with programming before I made my first tweak. It's one of the things I really enjoy doing and I find accomplishment out of everyone I made. :)

8. How did you learn how to code?
*That's I a good question. It's a very long story though to shorten it down,
First of all you got to like the programing language, you can find this out by learning a little and you will know if you want to contue with that language or jump to another language. When I first started I started in java.
I really didn't like java so I learnt a few languages at once that I found that can be use to me and I like. I would set my self a goal by the end to have a project done. Even if it's a silly project when first started. With every time I set my self a project I would challange my self that I would of normally though I can't do and give myself a certain time/day to
Finish it by and you can
Archive a lot by that. One of the most important thing to remember is that I'd you don't enjoy it/ want to do it, that u will really not get the satisfaction u where looking for because I never give ur self credit. Also you got to remember to always have something out of it. (e.g pride in what u have achieved or rewarding yourself on the job u have don't for example) I could talking all day about tips and stuff but the main point is "To have a point" If you don't want to program and of not for you and you find this after awhile that is ok :) the most best thing that people can do to
Boost someone's programming and self confidence is not
To brag them out even if the first one or first project is not the best. I programmers feeling towards negative comments for example
_can_ take a load off them and feel like they are not getting a anywhere buy really they are.
Just people putting them
Down,to make u feel like your not. :)

Awesome right? This was his first interview and we think he did a great job and he is really nice and once you first talk to him, he is like your buddy. That's how nice he is. We think he is very cool and should become a great and well known Cydia tweak maker.

Hey visitors!

It is said that 2/3 of the people that own iTouch's or any iOS products, have their item jailbroken. As you know, Apple is updating their products, and the versions of their OS, therefore it is getting harder to jailbreak you iDevice. Our goal is to make that easier for you, by keeping you in touch with ALL the iOS updates, and the new jailbreaks. You may notice that other blogs have the same thing. But they don't. We give exclusive interviews to our viewers. Tune in for more.

Sincerely,

- iXJailbreak Team
